I'm quite a bit delayed on where I should be with Felicity. Unfortunately work and life just makes it impossible for me to work on it everyday- I've been having problems working up the energy some evenings. So I took a days break from the comic to do something for my gallery- I've been feeling really guilty about not having uploaded anything(even though it's because I can't).

So-

Magpie in 2009, I've not really dedicated time to evolving the character so it's really interesting that she has changed so much. What I love about doing work on Magpie is that I allow myself far greater room for exaggeration and stylization. As a result it's incredibly satisfying 'cus I have so much more freedom. My work on this project always feels that little bit more my own work than some of the others.

Now with added 'Do not Want' Expression and introducing 'Nodding Off'. Collect the whole set. Or something.

For those interested Ellie is meant to look pretty without being the usual model-standard. Down-to-earth. Visually she's pretty much just a collection of people I've known or know.
Her face shape was defined by my work fleshing out the mask- and how it's a design based on angles. Prior Magpie work had a much longer thinner face, the enlarging of the head and exaggeration of the features was all part of the push in style along with the angle design element I mentioned before.

She's probably the most fun to draw out of any character I've had.
