I also know what its like to have a Who job pulled from me too
I love the energy throughout the pic -- the Doctor is excited, he's jumping and smiling, and his partner feels just as lively, if not quite as playful excitable as the Doctor. I love how they both feel alive and energetic, even though their personalities and levels of energy contrast each other.
The energy keeps going the in the background -- the swirly energy at the bottom obviously makes it pop, but all of the bad guys in the background, with their really expressive faces do a lot, too. And I love those expressive, scary faces -- especially in this harder edge, sculptural style -- it makes them look even more menacing!
Man, there's a lot of words I wish I could find to express how much I enjoy the look and feel of this pic, and the others you've done in this style. There's so much depth in the colors, in the lighting, in the textures, and the shapes look really unique, while capturing the likeness and essence and energy of the characters so well in your own way. That's something I always enjoy in your fanart/licensed art -- that you capture the character while exaggerating and cartooning them in your own style.
